Joe Skiados, Director of Sales, Onsite Solutions, Cvent, Inc.

Joe Skiados has over a decade of technology experience mostly related to events. He is currently a Director of Sales for Onsite Solutions at Cvent, helping customers with an array of technology affecting the attendee journey. Before joining Cvent, he was a senior sales executive at TRC among other technology sales roles. Joe earned his Bachelor of Science in Visual Arts from Radford University.

Howard Smith, Senior Staff Attorney, Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council

Prior to joining DSSRC, Howard was a commercial counselor and litigator at Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin and Olshan Frome Wolosky LLP handling complex matters across a broad array of subject matters including false advertising disputes, intellectual property and bankruptcy matters. Howard has substantial first and second chair trial experience as well as experience reviewing, analyzing and drafting contracts, license agreements and settlement agreements for a wide variety of commercial clients.

Howard’s notable achievements for varied clients include successfully arguing an appeal to the Second Circuit for a Fortune 200 client, winning two breach of contract trials in New York state court, winning a defense verdict in a two-week jury trial in California state court, obtaining dismissal of all claims against his client in a “bet the company” advertising and trademark dispute, favorably resolving as co-counsel seven litigations arising from real estate investments in excess of $1 billion, and successfully arguing an appeal before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit . Howard also has significant experience as an advertising attorney handling advertising disputes before the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Advertising Self-Regulatory Council and with consumer perception surveys in both NAD and Lanham Act matters. He has also written and spoken extensively about advertising self-regulation.

Howard received his bachelor’s degree at Vassar College and is a graduate of St. John’s University School of Law. Howard has been a member of the New York State Bar since 2000.

Dana Thornburg, Director of Corporate Brand Strategy, Saladmaster (Regal Ware, Inc.)

Dana is the Director of Global Brand Strategy for Saladmaster and previously the Director of Marketing for the Americas Division. She is responsible for developing globally integrated marketing strategies that help generate leads and increase sales and brand awareness targeted at both the Saladmaster Dealers and the end consumer. She leads the company efforts in branding campaigns, CSR efforts, digital marketing, social media, and marketing and employee communications. Prior to joining Saladmaster in May of 2016, she worked for Mary Kay, Inc. for over 10 years in various Senior Management roles in integrated brand marketing, digital innovation, ecommerce, social media and employee communications. Dana holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts & Science in Marketing from the University of North Texas and is a certified Holistic Health Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

Crayton Webb, Owner and Chief Executive Officer, Sunwest Communications

Crayton Webb is the owner and CEO of Sunwest Communications, a Dallas, Texas based public relations and public affairs firm.

Previously, Webb was the Vice President of Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility for Mary Kay Inc. In his 12 years with Mary Kay, Crayton launched the company’s CSR strategy, Pink Changing Lives, evolving its philanthropic efforts into a strategic, multi-platform program with a global reach.

From 2002 until 2005, Webb was chief of staff for Dallas Mayor Laura Miller. During that time he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Mayor’s Office, working with members of the news media and served as the Mayor’s spokesperson, media advisor and top aide.

Webb’s professional background is in journalism. Crayton was a broadcast journalist for nearly ten years covering politics for television stations in Bend, Oregon; Boise, Idaho; Austin, Texas and was an investigative reporter and covered City Hall for the CBS affiliate in Dallas from 1998 to 2001.

John Webb, Senior Legal Counsel for Policy, Advocacy and Compliance, Direct Selling Association

John Webb, Senior Legal Counsel for Policy, Advocacy and Compliance for the Direct Selling Association, works on a variety of legal issues, business ethics, and state and federal legislative and regulatory matters. Prior to joining DSA, he served on the leadership team of a successful congressional campaign and then served as a professional staffer for a congressman in Washington, DC as an advisor, identifying and coordinating legislative initiatives and managing committee activities. John also served as Director of Washington Operations for a defense contractor where he headed up their DC Office, as well as Associate General Counsel and Director of Government Relations for a trade association representing the commercial laboratory testing industry.

John is a graduate of the University of North Alabama with a degree in Business Management. After college, he served on active duty with the 101st Airborne Division and then spent more than 10 years in the reserves, including as a member of the 11th Special Forces Group (Airborne). John holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Regent University School of Law and is a member of the District of Columbia and U.S. Supreme Court Bars.

Tyler Whitehead, President West Regions- Americas, Pacific, EMEA, Nu Skin Enterprises

Tyler Whitehead is the president of the Nu Skin Americas & Pacific Region, including the United States, Canada, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Australia and New Zealand.

Immediately prior to his appointment, Tyler served as vice president of Sales and Operations for the Americas Region. He also formerly served as a vice president and as general counsel for both Pharmanex and Nu Skin.

Whitehead joined Nu Skin Enterprises in 2004 as general counsel of Pharmanex. Prior to joining Nu Skin, he was an attorney in private practice specializing in corporate, finance and securities law. Whitehead earned his bachelor’s degree from Idaho State University and his Juris Doctorate from Willamette University College of Law.

Monica Wood, Vice President, Global Consumer and Member Insights, Herbalife Nutrition

Monica Wood is currently the Vice President, Global Consumer and Member Insights for Herbalife.  She is responsible for building an insights function from the ground up, creating best in class practices globally and is responsible for all surveys and insights work conducted within the company.

Prior to joining Herbalife, Monica was president of the Market Research Council and also the President of Monica Wood and Associates where she partnered with leading pharmaceutical and CPG clients to develop outstanding solutions and actionable, insightful research deliverables.

Prior to that, Monica was Vice President Global Marketing Services at Novartis. She was responsible for all global interactive marketing activity, media spending analytics, syndicated and custom market research for Novartis Consumer Health.

She was also the EVP of Insights and Strategy at Edelman Public Relations.

Monica is actively involved on the University Business School Advisory Board for Entrepreneurship and the Market Research Council Past President.

Daryl Wurzbacher, Chief Executive Officer, ByDesign Technologies, Inc.

Daryl began his career in the Direct Selling industry in 1999  as the Director of Information Technology for a dietary supplement and personal care direct sales start-up.  That company was the first client of ByDesign Technologies, and Daryl was a critical liaison between ByDesign, the field leaders, and his corporate team.  In that role, Daryl scaled the company from $0 to $70 million using ByDesign’s Freedom Platform.  In 2007, Daryl transitioned to the supplier side of our industry as the Director of Technology for ByDesign.  

His strong work ethic and passion for continuous self-development led to increasing levels of responsibility and a promotion into the role of Vice-President of Applications and Platforms. His strategic leadership, innovation, and energetic contributions led to his appointment as President in 2015 and CEO in 2018.  During his tenure over the past decade, Daryl has been integral to the accelerated company growth and international expansion. Daryl is very client centric and travels extensively to client’s corporate offices to remain current on the needs of the industry and to collaborate on new solutions that can insure the ongoing success of ByDesign’s customers.
